Optimization of industrial space: Pedlex fits out the new Airbus warehouse

Pedlex recently collaborated with Airbus for the development of their new warehouse in Mirabel, aiming to optimize their storage space.
Our client chose our pallet rack systems and cantilever supports, which offer efficient storage and secure warehousing.
Discover this turnkey project carried out by our experts in industrial warehousing solutions.

The challenge:

To meet their need to expand their parts storage capacity, our client Airbus undertook the fitting out of their new warehouse. This specifically involved the installation of robust and efficient storage systems for parts of various sizes – some of which were too long to be stored on conventional pallet racking.

As space optimization is essential to maximize operational efficiency, our client trusted Pedlex due to our proven expertise and our ability to support them in their project.

The project was installed by our seasoned installation experts, who are trained in the assembly and installation of storage systems.
This ensures that our systems are secure and comply with current norms and standards.

The solution:

Our project manager, Pier-Olivier Delisle, worked closely with the Airbus team to assess the specific needs of their warehouse.
After an in-depth consultation and analysis, our experts took charge of the complete layout of our client’s new warehouse. This project included the sale, delivery and installation of the following solutions:

1. Pallet racks:

  • 8 rows of sturdy pallet racks, containing up to 14 bays each, with a height of 372”, were delivered and installed
  • One part of the pallet racking was provided with rails placed on 4 levels at eye level to allow efficient manual picking of small parts;

2. Security:

  • Upright and aisle end protectors were installed to protect the system from forklift impacts
  • Storage racks were added on each level to help support the different pieces – with a capacity of 2,000 lbs.
  • In addition, the load capacities per pallet, per cell and per bay were displayed for rapid identification by forklift operators.

3. Cantilever storage systems:

  • A cantilever racking system of 26 columns with a height of 26′ with an average of 9 arms of 72” long per column
  • Each arm has a capacity of 500 lbs.
